Toronto

Took the weekend to drive down to the Toronto Airsoft Convention 2008 with some friends. Got motion sickness, got lost, but we eventually got there and had a blast! Lots of goodies and some Canadian made products that are going to hit the market in the next couple of months.

I took a few pictures, but I was feeling a bit "under the weather" so I wasn't able to take too many.

Well...back to my studies :)

Cheers,
Andrew

First week back

The first week went very well. I got to see all of my friends again, and enjoy some very short classes. In Film Studies we watched Dawn of the Dead (1978), and next week we're watching the 2004 remake, and the week after that we're watching the Comedy/Horror Shaun of the Dead.

At the weeks end, I stayed the night at Chris' house because I had an airsoft game the next day (Chris had all my gear at his house). So I woke up at 5:30am, got ready to go, and got picked up around 6:30am. We drove out to Beauharnois, Quebec for our indoor game at an old mill. The game was tons of fun, and I got to test out my new goggles that I got for Christmas. This game was actually an Ontario vs. Quebec game, the sequel to a game last year where Ontario won...and we won again this year!

At one point the other team needed a hostage for the scenario that we were playing, so I volunteered...I was then handcuffed with real handcuffs, and had a small wireless explosive charge put in my pocket (Don't worry Mom, it was just a small firecracker and some bbs). But my team was killed off before they could rescue me, so they detonated the explosive in my pocket...

...I only got one kill in the game, but it was the guy that blew me up :)

Now I need to take the day to recover, as I'm sore all over from climbing over obstacles, sprinting down hallways, carrying more weight than I would normally carry, going up and down stairwells, standing up for many hours, and getting too little sleep from being too excited the night before.

Cheers,
Andrew

A Quebec player, the one that blew me up :)

More pictures to come, the other photographer still hasn't posted photo's yet.

Back in the City

It's been 2 weeks of bliss, being away from all of my stressful studies with the family! But now I'm back in the city with all my new stuff (mini-fridge!) and I've just settled into my room. It seems a bit crowded.

It feels great to be back! I was worried that I might miss home a little bit more than last term...sorry, I don't. I'm really looking forward to the start of this term on Monday, and seeing all of my friends again. I think I'll enjoy this term twice as much as last term (no more news quizzes in Journalism!), and I'll try to stick to my News Year's resolutions of eating more, exercising more, and balancing my studying with my partying...last term when it came time to study, I would turn into a recluse and be in my room for hours and hours reading my textbooks and notes and not seeing daylight for quite awhile, only coming out to eat and have lunch with my friends. Not this term though, I'm going to party a bit more, have a bit more fun, but still keep up with my work and studying...hopefully I can catch some fresh air somewhere in between.

Right now I'm installing one of the video games I got for Christmas, taking it easy. Tomorrow I'll get back to working on my essay and finish it up well before the due date so I have time to go over it and check for any errors (also to make sure it's coherent).

Tomorrow night, however, Chris has a hockey game at the Carleton University Arena at 10pm! I'll be there to cheer him on!

Cheers & Happy New Year,

Andrew
